When starting at ILSA, the first instrument we made was an octave guitar, that is in effect a classical guitar on 1/2 scale, so the open strings sound as high as the classical guitar string when played ath the 12th fret (hence the octave).
Here are some pictures of how I adjusted my teacher's design by using mandoline tuners, that I shortened to a three-on-plate set.
