ILSA

A shot of a class given by Geert Vermeiren, and a picture of when we went to Barber in Valencia, Spain to purchase lutherie woods.

The Classical Guitar CL002 (4)

The headstock and back of CL002. Here An Volders is playing it, while Roland Broux plays my class mate Antoni's classical guitar.

Some pictures of CL002 when finished. Note the double drilled holes in the bridge for easier string attachment.

And of course I could not have glued the back without the unfailing help from our great lutherie teacher, Geert Vermeiren!

The Classical Guitar CL002

I never finished CL001... So I did the second year at school all over again, and made another classical guitar (CL002). This time around, I used a spruce top and adjusted some minor things to the standard design... Here you see me stressing a bit when glueing on the back.

First things first... (2)

In the second year at school I made a classical guitar (CL001) to the traditional Torres-model. The top was of redwood cedar (thuja plicata). Here are some photos.

First things first...

When starting at ILSA, the first instrument we made was an octave guitar, that is in effect a classical guitar on 1/2 scale, so the open strings sound as high as the classical guitar string when played ath the 12th fret (hence the octave).
Here are some pictures of how I adjusted my teacher's design by using mandoline tuners, that I shortened to a three-on-plate set.

Welcome...

Welcome to my blog, a testimony of how I build and restore my guitars. Over the coming weeks, as my new workshop is coming in place, I will regularly post messages and photos of progress on various instruments. I hop you enjoy visting evry once in a while, and don't hesitate to send me questions, remarks or feedback!

Greetings, Koen Cassiers, amateur luthier from Belgium.
